Changes of Fetal Cardiac Circumference by Real-time Ultrasound During Normal Pregnancy

Abstract
The fetal cardiac circumferences were measured in real-time ultrasound two-dimensional apical four-chamber view during normal pregnancies between 20th and 42nd week of gestation. The relationships between the cardiac circumference and other measurements such as biparietal diameter, abdominal circumference, and femur length were analyzed. The cardiac circumference showed a linear growth pattern with the increasing gestational age and significant linear correlation with parameters of biparietal diameter, abdominal circumference, and femur length. The measurement of fetal cardiac circumference might be used as an index of organ size in evaluation of fetuses at risk for anomalous development.
